NASTY IN NY: De Blasio Slams ‘Sad’ Shutdown, Says NYC Will ‘Continue to Function’

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.24.18

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio weighed-in Monday on the federal government’s partial shutdown over border security; calling the development a “sad moment for America” but reassuring Big Apple residents their “city government” will “continue to function.”

“[President Trump’s] shutdown is a sad moment for America. But I can assure the people of New York City that their city government will continue to function,” posted de Blasio on social media.

De Blasio’s comments come just weeks after a mild, seasonally average snowstorm brought the nation’s largest city to a total standstill; with residents calling for the mayor to resign after countless New Yorkers were stuck in snarled traffic for upwards of seven hours.

DE BLASIO DEFLECTS: NYC Mayor Blames Big Apple CHAOS on ‘Bad Luck’

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio deflected fierce criticism of his administration’s handling of a mild November snowstorm Friday; blaming the total chaos on “bad luck” and unreliable weather reports.

The prominent Democrat was speaking with NY1 when he was asked to respond to furious residents after the normally congested evening commute took some locals 12 hours to travel just four or five miles.

“There are definitely some things we need to learn from this and things we need to do better,” admitted the mayor. “But it’s also important to note we got just about every form of bad luck we could have gotten yesterday. The weather service reports changed radically yesterday.”

“I can’t remember that happening previously in the middle of what seemed to be a normal day,” said de Blasio on the sudden closure of the George Washington Bridge during rush hour. “That really threw everything off. That had a horrible, extreme reaction on the entire city.”

DE BLASIO'S DISASTER: NYC ENRAGED after Mild Storm Causes CHAOS, Calls for Mayor to Resign

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.16.18

Big Apple residents raged at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s tepid response to a mild autumn snow storm Thursday night; with commuters sitting in gridlocked streets for up to 12 hours as roughly 3 to 6 inches of snow fell on the region.

Locals fumed at city officials Thursday evening and Friday morning while de Blasio feverishly deflected criticism; claiming “bad luck” and a series of poor weather forecasts threw the nation’s largest city into chaos.

“I’m tired, hungry, running out of gas and patience, I have to use the bathroom, I’m still stuck in traffic BUT I’m safe!” wrote a Democratic councilwoman on social media. “Only God to thank for that because of the HORRIBLE response to today’s snowstorm! This is beyond ridiculous and completely UNACCEPTABLE! Just terrible!”

“Somebody dropped the ball. No way a few inches of slush should bring the greatest city in the world to its knees,” added another council member.
