NEW TAXES! De Blasio, Cuomo Eye ‘Congestion Pricing’ and ‘Marijuana Tax’ to Fix Crumbling Subways

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.26.19

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo unveiled their newest proposal to help fix the region’s crumbling infrastructure this week; announcing “congestion pricing” and a potential “marijuana tax” to help repair subways and bridges.

“Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo announced Tuesday a proposal to transform the MTA and create funding streams for the agency, which includes the joint endorsement of congestion pricing,” reports NBC New York.

“The proposal also calls for the implementation of congestion pricing, which will be supplemented by an internet sales tax and, that if marijuana legalization takes place, a percentage of a resulting cannabis excise tax would also help fund the agency,” adds the article.

The announcement comes just days after Amazon withdrew their plans to build a second headquarter in Queens, New York; a move that cost the region 25,000 new jobs and billions in tax revenue.

DE BLASIO DEFLECTS: NYC Mayor Blames Big Apple CHAOS on ‘Bad Luck’

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.16.18

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio deflected fierce criticism of his administration’s handling of a mild November snowstorm Friday; blaming the total chaos on “bad luck” and unreliable weather reports.

The prominent Democrat was speaking with NY1 when he was asked to respond to furious residents after the normally congested evening commute took some locals 12 hours to travel just four or five miles.

“There are definitely some things we need to learn from this and things we need to do better,” admitted the mayor. “But it’s also important to note we got just about every form of bad luck we could have gotten yesterday. The weather service reports changed radically yesterday.”

“I can’t remember that happening previously in the middle of what seemed to be a normal day,” said de Blasio on the sudden closure of the George Washington Bridge during rush hour. “That really threw everything off. That had a horrible, extreme reaction on the entire city.”
