A new poll published Tuesday shows an overwhelming majority of American voters outright reject Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s recent push to lower the voting age to 16; throwing more cold-water on the leading Democrat’s efforts to “capture kids” while they’re “in high school.”
“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 17% of Likely U.S. Voters favor lowering the legal national voting age from 18 to 16. Seventy-four percent (74%) are opposed,” reports Rasmussen.
Even worse for Pelosi, just 25% of Democrats favored lowering the national voting age. That number decreased to 9% among Republican voters.
“I myself, personally—I’m not speaking for my caucus—I myself have always been for lowering the voting age to 16,” Pelosi said last week. “I think it’s really important to capture kids when they’re in high school, when they’re interested in all of this, when they’re learning about government to be able to vote.”

PELOSI’S PLOT REVEALED: Nancy Says Lowering Voting Age to 16 is Necessary to ‘Capture the Kids’
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi threw her full support behind the Democrats’ recent push to lower the national voting age to 16 this week; saying the move is an important step in “capturing the kids.”
Pelosi was speaking during her weekly press conference on Capitol Hill Thursday when she revealed her support for the new initiative.

“As far as 16-year-olds voting, where do you see that going into the future?” asked one reporter.
“I, myself, have always been for lowering the voting age to 16. I think it’s really important to capture the kids when they’re in high school, when they’re interested in all of this, when they’re learning about government,” said Pelosi.
HERE WE GO: House Democrat Calls on Congress to LOWER VOTING AGE to 16
A New York Congresswoman introduced new legislation this week that would lower the United States voting age to just 16-years-old; urging her fellow lawmakers to repeal the 26th amendment to the Constitution that sets the current restrictions.
According to the Washington Examiner, Rep. Grace Meng is hoping to lift the age requirements that were introduced nationwide in 1971.
“The 26th Amendment was the result of decades of argument that anyone old enough to be drafted to fight in the military at age 18 should also be able to vote. Support for that idea picked up steam during the Vietnam war,” writes the Examiner. “Because the Supreme Court ruled that Congress cannot regulate voting age in state and local elections, the Constitution was amended in 1971 to hold that 18-year-olds could vote nationwide.”
The liberal lawmaker is the latest example of left-wing activists seeking to gain new voters by any means necessary.
Last week, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced his newest “voter registration drive” throughout the Big Apple’s prison system.
