‘PANTS ON FIRE’ PolitiFact SLAMS Ocasio-Cortez’ Bogus UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIM

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.19.18

Government fact-checking organization PolitiFact called-out Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ bogus economic claim Thursday, saying her argument that the US unemployment rate was low because many workers had “two jobs” was a “pants on fire” level lie.

Cortez left many economists scratching their heads this week after making the bizarre statement, saying “Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs. Unemployment is low because people are working 60, 70, 80 hours a week and can barely feed their family.”

“In our review, we found many reasons why unemployment is low, and not for the overwork that Ocasio-Cortez cited. The biggest factors include strong economic confidence and the long-running economic recovery,” writes PolitiFact.

According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, “People are classified as unemployed if they do not have a job, have actively looked for work in the prior 4 weeks, and are currently available for work.”

DNC CIVIL WAR: Lieberman Urges Party to ABANDON CORTEZ, Says She’ll ‘HURT AMERICA’

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.18.18

Former Democratic Senator and Vice Presidential candidate Joe Lieberman lashed-out at socialist challenger Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in an op-ed published this week, saying her candidacy will “hurt Congress and hurt America.”

Lieberman penned his piece for the Wall Street Journal, titled “Vote Joe Crowley, for Working Families: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hurts the party, Congress and even America” in which he urged New York Democrats to support Joe Crowley; who was defeated in the primary process by Cortez just weeks ago.

“Ocasio-Cortez’s surprise primary victory over Rep. Joe Crowley seems likely to hurt Congress, America and the Democratic Party. It doesn’t have to,” writes Lieberman.

“Because the policies Ms. Ocasio-Cortez advocates are so far from the mainstream, her election in November would make it harder for Congress to stop fighting and start fixing problems. Thanks to a small percentage of primary votes, all of the people of New York’s 14th Congressional District stand to lose a very effective representative in Washington,” he adds.

Ocasio-Cortez fired back at her critics this week, saying “People who seek substantive change are almost always told some version of: ‘you’re crazy.’”

LIBERAL MATH: Cortez Says UNEMPLOYMENT LOW Because ‘EVERYONE HAS TWO JOBS’

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.18.18

Liberal superstar and Socialist candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez left economists across the country scratching their heads this week, falsely claiming that America’s unemployment rate was low because “everyone has two jobs.”

Cortez was speaking with PBS News when she was asked to comment on the healthy US economy, bizarrely suggesting “capitalism” may cease to exist in the world at some point in the future.

“The economy is going pretty strong. There’s roughly 4% unemployment. Do you think capitalism has failed to deliver for working class Americans?” asked the reporter.

“I think the numbers are part of the problem. We look at these figures and say unemployment is low everything is fine. Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs. Unemployment is low because people are working 60 hours per week and can barely feed their kids,” fired back Cortez.

According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, “People are classified as unemployed if they do not have a job, have actively looked for work in the prior 4 weeks, and are currently available for work.”

The definition has nothing to do with the amount of jobs people have, or the hours worked.
