PARADISE LOST: Trump Compares Ocasio-Cortez’ 70% Tax Rate with Venezuela Crisis

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.25.19

President Trump slammed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ proposed 70% tax rate Thursday night; directly comparing her socialist policies with the total economic collapse taking place in Venezuela.

The Commander-in-Chief was speaking with reporters at the White House when he was asked to comment on the escalating crisis taking place in the once oil-rich nation.

“We’ve been looking at Venezuela. It’s a very sad situation,” Trump said. “That was the richest state in all of that area. That’s a big, beautiful area and by far the richest. And now it’s one of the poorest places in the world. That’s what socialism gets you, when they want to raise your taxes to 70 percent.”

OCASIO-CORTEZ: Those at the ‘Tippy Top’ Should be Taxed ‘As High as 70%’

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raised eyebrows among fellow Democrats this week; suggesting those at the “tippy top” of the American economy should be taxed as high as 70% to support her massive government programs.

Cortez was speaking with ’60 Minutes’ during an interview set to broadcast this Sunday when she was asked to weigh-in on the projected costs associated with her ‘Green New Deal’ and Medicare for All.

“Once you get to the tippie tops, on your $10 millionth, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60% or 70%. That doesn’t mean all $10 million are taxed at an extremely high rate. But it means that as you climb up this ladder, you should be contributing more,” said Cortez.

“If that’s what radical means, call me a radical,” she added.

ANOTHER TERM: Venezuela’s Socialist President Sworn-in for SECOND SIX-Year Term

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.10.19

Venezuela’s socialist President Nicolas Maduro was sworn-in for his second six-year term Thursday; sparking outrage from world leaders and local activists demanding the brutal leader resign from office.

“Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was being sworn in to a second term Thursday amid international calls for him to step down and a devastating economic crisis, but with some long-time friends in attendance both from abroad and at home,” writes the Associated Press.

“A dozen Latin American governments and Canada in a coalition have rejected the legitimacy of Maduro’s next term, and Washington has sanctioned top officials in his government,” adds the article.

Venezuela’s crumbling economy has forced millions to flee the socialist country, where recent polling shows upwards of 80% of the population struggle to find food on a daily basis.
