PARIS UPDATE: France to Deploy 65,000 ‘Security Forces’ for Weekend Protests

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.06.18

The French government will deploy 65,000 “security forces” this weekend to clampdown on widening anti-Macron protests sweeping the nation; with authorities warning of “major violence” across the country.

“France will deploy more than 65,000 security forces amid fears of new rioting at protests Saturday in Paris and around the nation, despite President Emmanuel Macron’s surrender over a fuel tax hike that unleashed weeks of unrest,” writes the Associated Press.

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe told lawmakers Thursday that the government was taking “exceptional” steps to provide security throughout Paris and other major cities.

“No tax deserves to put civil peace in danger,” Philippe said.

The ‘Yellow Vest’ protests began weeks ago to fight the government’s impending ‘fuel tax,’ but have morphed into a larger, anti-Macron movement.

The French President has since “abandoned” the proposed tariff.

ON THE BRINK: Macron May Face ‘No Confidence’ Vote After Paris Riots

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.06.18

The political future of French President Emmanuel Macron hung in the balance Thursday, with lawmakers considering a vote of ‘no confidence’ that could ultimately lead to the leader’s removal after his botched “climate tax” was officially abandoned.

“The Socialist Party, far-left Defiant France and the Communist Party are setting aside their divisions and promising to submit the request to the lower house of parliament, or National Assembly, on Monday. The assembly would hold a no-confidence motion within 48 hours of the request,” writes Fox News.

The legislators would likely need support from Macron’s centrist party to unseat the French president.

Macron abruptly pulled-the-plug on his “fuel tax” Wednesday after weeks of violent demonstrations throughout the country; with gas prices skyrocketing and supplies dwindling across France.
