PEACE IN KOREA? President Moon Says SINGAPORE SUMMIT Will End ‘Cold War Legacy’

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.13.18

South Korean President Moon Jae-in praised both President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un Tuesday, saying their bold action in Singapore will help to end the “cold war legacy” that has plagued the peninsula for 70 years.

“I pay my high compliments for the courage and determination of the two leaders, President Trump and Chairman Kim, not to settle for that outdated and familiar reality but to take a daring step towards change,” wrote Moon.

“The June 12 Sentosa Agreement will be recorded as a historic event that has helped break down the last remaining Cold War legacy on earth,” he added. “It is a great victory achieved by both the United States and the two Koreas, and a huge step forward for people across the world who long for peace.”

The South Korean President played a major role in bringing both Trump and Kim together, working behind the scenes for months to set-the-stage for the historic Singapore Summit.

DOOMSDAY DELAY: Leaders of North and South Korea to Meet Next Month

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.29.18

The leaders of North and South Korea will hold high-level discussions next month ahead of Kim’s meeting with President Trump; announcing the rare international summit as both nations aim to soothe tensions after years of heated rhetoric and massive war games.

According to the Associated Press, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un will hold private discussions with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on April 27th at a border village located in the de-militarized zone between the two nations.

North Korea and South Korea have effectively been in a state of war since 1953.

“Both sides agreed to prepare for (the summit) in a way that would allow sincere and heartfelt discussions (between the leaders). If there’s a need, we decided to continue discussions on the summit agenda through follow-up high-level meetings in April,” said Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon.

“Both sides will continue working-level discussions (on the agenda) while focusing on the issues surrounding the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, the stabilization of peace and the development of relations between the South and North,” Cho added.

The talks will likely focus on Kim’s future meeting with President Donald Trump; setting the stage for the first talks between the leaders of North Korea and the United States since the Korean War.

END OF AN ERA: North and South Korea to Announce OFFICIAL END of Korean War

posted by Hannity Staff - 4.17.18

North and South Korean officials are prepared to announce an official end to the decades long Korean War this week; ending a military conflict between the two nations that have technically been at war since 1950.

According to CNBC, North and South Korean authorities are in talks to end hostilities ahead of next week’s historic meeting between communist dictator Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

Lawmakers from the two countries are huddling in high-level talks to formalize a joint announcement officially ending the nearly 70-year conflict; discussing specific language that would end the “truce” that stopped the armed conflict and forge a lasting “peace treaty.”

“Pyongyang and Seoul have technically been at war since the 1950-1953 Korean conflict ended with a truce — and not a peace treaty. Geopolitical tensions have occasionally flared up since the armistice, although to date both countries have managed to avoid another devastating conflict,” writes CNBC.

The summit between Kim and Moon Jae-in will set the stage for the North Korean dictator’s meeting with President Trump next month; the first time the leaders of North Korea and the United States will meet face-to-face.
