REPORT: Lisa Page and Rosenstein Discussed Special Counsel, Recording the President

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.21.18

A bombshell report from Fox News released Friday claims Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI lawyer Lisa Page discussed the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Russia collusion.

“Fox News has learned a key meeting took place on May 16, 2017 at Justice Department headquarters. During the meeting, the subject arose of the possibility of appointing a special counsel to investigate Russia election meddling, according to a source. Several people were in the room, including McCabe and former FBI counsel Lisa Page. Robert Mueller was appointed as special counsel the next day,” writes Fox News.

“I remember this meeting and remember the wire comment,” a source who was in the room told Fox News. “The statement was sarcastic and was never discussed with any intention of recording a conversation with the president.”

Rosenstein vehemently denies the allegations, saying “The New York Times’s story is inaccurate and factually incorrect.”

JARRETT TO ROSENSTEIN: Follow the President's Orders on Classified Docs or LEAVE THE DOJ

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.19.18

President Trump ordered the release of controversial classified documents regarding widespread FISA abuse and political bias at the Department of Justice this week; setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown between the White House and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Fox News’ Gregg Jarrett drew a line in the sand should Rosenstein defy the President’s demands Tuesday, saying the senior DOJ official should be immediately fired if he moves to block the release of the requested material.

“President Trump has ordered that numerous documents involving the Russia investigation be declassified.  The records have long been sought by Congress under lawful subpoenas.  Yet, the FBI and Department of Justice have consistently obstructed the release of these materials under the guise of ‘classified’ secrets.  This is a convenient alibi all too frequently employed to cover-up wrongdoing and abuse of authority by those we entrust to uphold the law,” writes Jarrett.

“Rosenstein has every reason to suppress the records. They may incriminate him. He affixed his signature to the final renewal of the FISA warrant application to continue spying on Carter Page,” he adds.

NY TIMES: Rosenstein Proposed ‘Secretly Recording Trump,’ Invoking 25th Amendment

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.21.18

A bombshell report from the New York Times Friday claims Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein proposed secretly recording President Trump inside the White House, then potentially using the material to invoke the 25th amendment to remove him from office.

“The deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit,” writes the Times.

“Mr. Rosenstein made these suggestions in the spring of 2017 when Mr. Trump’s firing of James B. Comey as F.B.I. director plunged the White House into turmoil,” adds the article.

Rosenstein was in his official role for just two weeks at the time.

“The New York Times’s story is inaccurate and factually incorrect,” Rosenstein said in response to the NY Times article. “I will not further comment on a story based on anonymous sources who are obviously biased against the department and are advancing their own personal agenda.”

If confirmed, the report raises serious questions over Rosenstein’s future at the Department of Justice and his role in the ongoing Russia investigation.
