SANDERS SPEAKS: White House Responds to Judge’s Ruling Regarding Jim Acosta

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.16.18

The White House issued an official response to a federal judge’s ruling that restored CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta’s press credentials; saying they “will temporarily” grant the reporter access to the premises.

“Today, the court made clear that there is no absolute First Amendment right to access the White House. In response to the court, we will temporarily reinstate the reporter’s hard pass,” Sanders said. “We will also further develop rules and processes to ensure fair and orderly press conferences in the future. There must be decorum at the White House.”

Judge Timothy Kelly unveiled his decision Friday morning; claiming the decision to revoke Acosta’s credentials violated his First and Fifth Amendment rights.

It remains unclear whether the White House will pursue its legal battle against Acosta in the coming days.

ACOSTA DENIED: White House ‘Suspends’ Jim Acosta’s Press Pass ‘Until Further Notice’

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.08.18

CNN’s senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta had his press pass “suspended” Wednesday after a fiery exchange with President Trump during a post-midterm briefing, reports Fox News.

“I’ve just been denied entrance to the WH,” Acosta tweeted Wednesday. “Secret Service just informed me I cannot enter the WH grounds for my 8pm hit.”

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed the move in a written statement, saying his credentials were revoked after “placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern,” adding the behavior was “absolutely unacceptable.”

“This conduct is absolutely unacceptable. It is also completely disrespectful to the reporter’s colleagues not to allow them an opportunity to ask a question. President Trump has given the press more access than any President in history,” she added.

CNN SUES: CNN Files Lawsuit Against President Trump Over Acosta’s Press Pass

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.13.18

CNN filed a lawsuit this week against President Trump and several top aides after White House correspondent Jim Acosta had his press pass removed over a contentious briefing where he refused to hand the microphone to a young intern.

According to the cable news network, the suit targets Trump, chief of staff John Kelly, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Bill Shine, and the director of the Secret Service.

“CNN filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration this morning in DC District Court,” read a statement from the network. “It demands the return of the White House credentials of CNN’s Chief White House correspondent, Jim Acosta. The wrongful revocation of these credentials violates CNN and Acosta’s First Amendment rights of freedom of the press, and their Fifth Amendment rights to due process. We have asked this court for an immediate restraining order requiring the pass be returned to Jim, and will seek permanent relief as part of this process.”
