TAPPED OUT: San Diego Non-Profits ‘Running Out of Space’ for ‘Migrant Caravan’ Members

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.07.18

Relief organizations and non-profit groups operating in San Diego are rapidly “running out of space” as hundreds of potential asylum-seekers are processed at the United States’ southern border with Mexico.

Despite thousands of Central American migrants camping out in Tijuana and other cities across northern Mexico, hundreds of immigrants have had their cases processed by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.

“A group of San Diego-based nonprofits claim they are running out of money and space to house, clothe and feed hundreds of asylum-seeking families ICE agents have been quietly transporting in and dumping onto the streets,” writes Fox News.

“The shelter can accommodate only about 150 people, with average stays of 24 to 48 hours,” Edward Sifuentes, a spokesman for the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties, said. “It stays filled to capacity because as quickly as one group of families moves on, others are released by immigration authorities.”

“These migrant families consist of small children as young as a 3-day old baby,” said the executive director of Catholic Charities. “We don’t have resources. We are working on shoe-string budgets. This started on Oct. 26. It’s week 5. It’s not sustainable.”

CARAVAN ARRIVES: Multiple Migrants Arrested After Attempting to Cross US-Mexico Border

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.15.18

At least 12 Central American migrants traveling with the ‘caravan’ were arrested this week after attempting to illegally cross the US-Mexico border near Tijuana, reports Fox News.

The small group attempted to jump the fence in a region called Playas de Tijuana after a larger gathering assembled on the Mexican side of the border. The migrants are said to be the first to reach the United States with thousands more marching north.

“A small group was arrested near the beach in an area called Playas de Tijuana. A large group was arrested in the mountains east of Otay Mesa, a San Diego community that straddles the Mexican border, the source said. All were arrested for trying to cross the border illegally,” writes Fox.

Members of the caravan said they are actively waiting for more immigrants to arrive at the border and will remain in Mexico until they “figure out their next steps.”

“We have to see what we’re offered, just so they don’t send us back to our country,” said one Honduran.

CARAVAN CHAOS: Federal Judge BLOCKS Trump’s Asylum Ban at Southern Border

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.20.18

A federal judge in San Francisco abruptly blocked the Trump administration’s crackdown on asylum seekers entering the country through the United States’ southern border Monday night; setting the stage for a potential legal battle that could reach the Supreme Court.

According to Fox News, “U.S. District Judge Jon S. Tigar, who was nominated by President Obama in 2012 to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, issued a temporary restraining order after hearing arguments in San Francisco.”

“Individuals are entitled to asylum if they cross between ports of entry. It couldn’t be clearer,” said one attorney opposed to the Trump administration’s revised guidelines.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed this week that 70,000 people per year apply for asylum at “ports of entry” across the United States; including border crossings in Arizona, California, and Texas.
