TICK TOCK: Senate Huddles as Deadline Approaches, Time to Pass Budget or SHUT IT DOWN

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.21.18

The United States Senate huddled Friday afternoon to reach a last-minute agreement that would avoid a partial government shutdown; struggling to reach a bipartisan deal that would secure over $5 billion for border security.

“The Senate on Friday was scrambling to take up a spending package with billions in funding for a border wall, as President Trump made clear there’s a ‘good chance’ for a partial government shutdown at midnight,” writes Fox News.

“President Trump: you will not get your wall,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told his colleagues on the Senate Floor. “Abandon your shutdown strategy. You’re not getting the wall today, next week or on January 3rd, when Democrats take control of the House.”

The President urged GOP lawmakers to “go nuclear” and bypass a potential Democratic filibuster Friday, but was largely rebuked by Sen. McConnell.

“Now it’s up to the Democrats as to whether or not we have a shutdown tonight,” said the president.

ACOSTA'S EDUCATION: Mick Mulvaney SCHOOLS Jim Acosta Using SIMPLE MATH

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.19.18

White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney shot down CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta during the daily press briefing on Friday, schooling the reporter with simple math on why Democrats are needed to keep the government fully funded.

Mulvaney was taking questions from reporters when Acosta pounced on the budget director’s use of the term “Schumer Shutdown” to describe Democratic opposition to passing a short-term spending bill.

“How can it be the ‘Schumer Shutdown’ when Republicans control the White House, the House and the Senate,” asked a bewildered Acosta.

“Come on you know the answer to that as well as anybody,” Mulvaney fired-back. “I have to laugh when people say that […] You know as well as anybody that it takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass an appropriations bill.”

“You know that, right?” pressed Mulvaney. “So, if you only have 51 votes in the Senate, then you have to have Democrat support to fund the government. So that’s the answer to your question.”

ARMAGEDDON AGAIN? Pelosi Warns Government Could be ‘CLOSED FOREVER’ Over Budget Fight

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.13.18

Likely Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi escalated her war-of-words with the Trump administration Thursday; saying the government could be “closed forever” because of her opposition to the President’s border wall.

Pelosi was speaking with reporters during her weekly press conference at the Capitol when she was asked if she planned to cave to the President’s security demands.

“Let’s hope there won’t be a shutdown of the government. That’s a very bad thing to do, maybe the President doesn’t grasp that. That is very harmful to our country at significant cost,” said Pelosi.

“They still voted against opening up the government [the last time.] Does he want to have government closed forever? What’s this about? I know he doesn’t believe in government,” she added.
