TICK TOCK: Shutdown Looms as Democrats ‘Dig In’ Against Border Wall Funding

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.18.18

The federal government hurled towards another potential shut-down Tuesday morning, with congressional Democrats refusing to fund President Trump’s signature campaign promise: a physical wall along the US-Mexico border.

“President Trump and congressional Democrats remain sharply at odds over a spending package as Washington barrels toward a Friday at midnight deadline, leaving some on Capitol Hill increasingly worried that a Christmas government shutdown is in the making,” writes Fox News.

President Trump slammed those opposed to the ‘Border Wall’ on social media Tuesday morning, posting “Illegal immigration costs the United States more than 200 Billion Dollars a year. How was this allowed to happen?”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer refused to budge on his party’s hardline against securing the southern border, saying “So everyone knows the situation: even with a Republican Congress, no threat or temper tantrum will get the president his wall.”

DNC DISASTER: Republicans GAIN in NEW POLLS After ‘Schumer Shutdown’

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.14.18

New polling shows Republicans heading into the pivotal 2018 midterm elections with the wind at their backs; erasing Democratic gains for the first time since last spring as President Trump’s approval ratings continue to rise.

According to Politico, President Trump’s job performance inched higher following a disastrous month for Democrats; with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer caving on DACA, the budget, and the government shutdown.

“Fully 39 percent of registered voters say they would support the GOP candidate for Congress in their district, while 38 percent would back the Democratic candidate. Nearly a quarter of voters, 23 percent, are undecided,” writes Politico.

The polls show GOP candidates wiping out Democratic gains in recent months, shrinking their ten point generic advantage to a one point deficit against their Republican opponents.

The new data also shows President Trump’s approval rating matching his disapproval rating at 47%.

“Not only have Republicans increased support on the generic congressional ballot, they are now trusted more to handle the most important issue when voters head to the polls: the economy,” Morning Consult’s co-founder told Politico.

HARRIS UNHINGED: Sen. Kamala Harris TRASHES SCHUMER’s Shutdown Surrender

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.22.18

Liberal Senator and possible 2020 presidential contender Kamala Harris blasted her Democratic colleagues for voting to re-open the federal government Monday afternoon, saying she voted against the bill to end the government shutdown because it did little to protect illegal immigrants.

A CNN congressional correspondent posted the Senator’s full statement on social media, where she slammed liberal legislators for caving to GOP demands on DACA, border security, and other immigration issues central to the Democrat decision to shutdown the federal government.

“The Majority Leader’s comments last night fell far short of the ironclad guarantee I needed to support a stopgap spending bill,” said Harris. “I refuse to put the lives of nearly 700,000 young people in the hands of someone who has repeatedly gone back on his word.”

Despite the left-leaning Senator’s opposition, the Senate voted to approve the financial resolution; passing by a margin of 80-18 after dozens of Democrats switched their votes under Schumer’s instruction.

The Democratic hold-outs include Sens. Harris, Warren, Gillibrand, Sanders, and Booker -all likely contenders for the Democratic nomination in 2020.
