TOO LATE? Macron to Address People of France After Bloody Weekend Protests

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.10.18

French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to speak to the people of France Monday; finally addressing the public after four weeks of violent ‘Yellow Vest’ protests rocked the capital and other major cities across the country.

According to the Associated Press, “French President Emmanuel Macron is at last preparing to speak to the nation Monday, after increasingly violent and radicalized protests against his leadership and a long silence that aggravated the anger. Many protesters only want one thing: for him to declare ‘I quit.’”

Macron is expected to unveil a series of proposals that would reduce fuel costs and other skyrocketing living expenses across France; hoping to increase the public’s “purchasing power” for struggling citizens.

The decision comes after the fourth weekend of violent protests against the French president, with hundreds arrested and countless injured during Saturday’s demonstrations.

CHAOS IN PARIS: French Capital ROCKED by Anti-Macron Protests, ‘Hundreds’ Arrested

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.08.18

The anti-Macron ‘Yellow Vest’ protests continued to rock the French capital Saturday, with hundreds arrested after countless demonstrators took to the streets of Paris in opposition to rising fuel prices and the skyrocketing cost-of-living across the country.

“A fourth weekend of antigovernment protests turned violent on Saturday, with demonstrators in Paris ripping down barricades from store fronts and setting vehicles on fire, while riot police fired tear gas and water cannons to control the crowds,” writes the New York Times.

“The so-called Yellow Vests descended on the capital by the thousands, even as the police turned out in force, blocking off roads and monuments and arresting more than 700 people, many before they could even reach the main site of the demonstrations along Paris’s main artery, the Champs-Élysées,” adds the article.

The protests -largely sparked by a scheduled increase in the already high ‘fuel tax’- has since morphed into a widespread, anti-Macron movement across France.

CHAOS IN PARIS: French Paramedics, First Responders, Students Join Fuel Protests

The widespread protests sweeping Paris escalated Monday as first responders and students joined the massive demonstrations against gasoline shortages and a lack of fuel throughout the country.

“Anti-government protesters gained new allies Monday as French paramedics and students joined ongoing rallies while the prime minister met with political rivals in a bid to ease the anger following riots that rocked Paris,” writes the Associated Press.

“On Saturday, more than 130 people were injured and 412 arrested in the French capital amid one of the worst waves of unrest in the country in recent years. Police responded with tear gas and water cannons, closing down dozens of streets and subway stations to contain the riot,” adds the AP.

The “Yellow Vest” movement -named after the bright jackets worn by emergency workers and construction crews across France- rocked Paris over the weekend; injuring more than 100 and leading to the arrests of 400 individuals.
