TRUMP SQUARE: Jerusalem Mayor Announces Move to HONOR President Trump

posted by Hannity Staff - 5.08.18

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat announced his decision to formally honor President Trump by naming a promenade near the US embassy “United States Square in honor of President Donald Trump,” said a spokesperson for the mayor’s office.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Barkat officially called on the city council to rename the site in honor of President Trump just days before US officials open the new US embassy in the Israeli capital.

“This is the way in which Jerusalem returns love to the president and residents of the United States who stand by the state of Israel,” said the mayor. “President Trump decided to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish people, stand on the side of historical truth and do the right thing.”

The square is located near the new US embassy, which is set to open in May to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Jewish State in the aftermath of the Second World War.

ISRAEL ON EDGE: Jerusalem Braces for VIOLENCE as US Opens Embassy

Israeli security forces are on high-alert in the coming days as the United States prepares to open its embassy in Jerusalem; fulfilling years of American promises to relocate their diplomatic headquarters to the capital.

According to the Guardian, police and Israeli Defense Forces have increased security sweeps and patrols in the southern Jerusalem neighborhood expected to house the temporary American embassy while construction is in progress.

American officials plan to open the embassy on May 14, the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Jewish State in the immediate aftermath of World War II.

It remains unclear if President Trump will be on hand to officially open the diplomatic headquarters.

“We’re still waiting to see if the US president will come here for the opening move. The level of security will be raised accordingly,” said a spokesperson for Israeli police.

“When you have tens of thousands of people around the border there is no control over them,” said a security analyst in Gaza. “It would be my assumption that some protesters will try to breach the fence, will try to infiltrate into Israel.”

PROMISE KEPT: Trump Recognizes JERUSALEM as Israeli Capital

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.06.17

President Donald Trump made history and fundamentally changed American foreign policy in the Middle East on Wednesday, officially recognizing Jerusalem as the “capital of Israel,” and announcing his decision to relocate the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city.

“After more than two decades of waivers, we are no closer to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. It would be folly to assume that repeating the exact same formula would now produce a different or better result,” said the President.

“I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. While previous Presidents have made this a campaign promise, they failed to deliver. Today I am delivering,” he added.

“I’ve judged this course of action to be in the best interest of the United States of America, and the pursuit of peace between Israel and the Palestinians. This is a long overdue step to advance the peace process and to work towards a lasting agreement,” said Trump. “Israel is a sovereign nation with the right, like every other sovereign nation, to determine its own capital.”
