WATCH LIVE: White House Press Briefing Following McCabe's 'REMOVAL' from FBI

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.29.18

Watch the White House Press Briefing with Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders above.

The briefing will likely focus on the ‘removal’ of Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe following months of scandals and controversies surrounding his role in the Trump-Russia investigation as well as his longtime connections to the Democratic party.

Inside sources confirmed McCabe’s plans to take “terminal leave” -the act of taking paid vacation until he plans to retire in just a few weeks- on Monday afternoon; raising the stakes in an already tense relationship between the White House and the nation’s premier law enforcement agency.

The Deputy Director has been a lightning-rod for Republicans since his appointment to the bureau.

McCabe’s wife has long-standing ties to the Democratic party; running as a Democrat for a Virginia Senate seat in 2015 and receiving funds and support from senior Clinton insiders -including Governor Terry McAuliffe.

Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is reportedly stepping down from his top post at the FBI following months of scandals and controversies regarding his role in the bureau’s investigation into President Trump’s relationship with Russian officials, reports Fox News.

McCabe’s wife has long-standing ties to the Democratic party; running as a Democrat for a Virginia Senate seat in 2015 and receiving funds and support from senior Clinton insiders -including Governor Terry McAuliffe.

Just months ago, President Trump blasted McCabe on social media, saying “How can FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the man in charge, along with leakin’ James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife’s campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation?”

GOWDY GOES OFF: Predicts FBI Deputy Director McCabe FIRED by Next Week

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.15.17

GOP Congressman Trey Gowdy escalated his war of words with FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe on Friday, saying he was still trying to figure out why “three FBI agents were discussing politics” on federal property; adding he’d be “surprised” if McCabe isn’t fired by next week.

“I hate it for Rod Rosenstein, that he’s the one explaining it, because he’s not Peter Strzok, he’s not Andy McCabe, and he’s not Jim Comey, so he was having to do a little bit of clean-up,” Gowdy told Fox News. “But these are really bad facts if you care about an impartial, objective Department of Justice and FBI.”

“I’m still trying to figure out why three FBI agents are discussing politics in the Deputy Director’s office. You’re not supposed to discuss politics on federal ground,” he added. “We were supposed to interview Andy McCabe yesterday on another committee. It was all set up and ready to go and then at the last minute they said he can’t come, he’s going to come next week.”

“I’ll be shocked if he comes next week, I’ll be a little surprised if he’s still an employee of the FBI this time next week,” Gowdy said.
