Chicago is bracing for the coldest regional temperatures ever recorded this week; with city officials warning residents the region could see minus 27 degrees as early as Monday evening.
“In Chicago, the coldest temperatures of the year will arrive midweek. After seeing a high around 34 on Monday at O’Hare International Airport, temperatures will drop to near zero before the end of the day, according to the National Weather Service. By Tuesday night, temperatures are expected to take another plunge, to 23 below zero, flirting with Chicago’s coldest temperature ever: minus 27 on Jan. 20, 1985,” writes the Chicago Tribune.
“The lows Tuesday and Wednesday could break records set in 1966. They’ll also feel much worse with wind gusts up to 30 mph, which will make it feel as low as negative 50 degrees, according to the weather service,” adds the author.
Weather experts blame the frigid temperatures on a massive “polar vortex” forming over Canada; saying the phenomenon will hover over the nation’s third-largest city in the days ahead.

BRAIN FREEZE: Al Gore Says Climate Change Cooling... THEN WARMING the Earth
Former Vice President and climate-change crusader Al Gore warned social media of another “ominous” heat record set in Oman over the weekend, just months after claiming global warming was -in fact- cooling the planet.
Gore posted the dire prediction on Twitter Saturday, saying “another ominous record” was smashed when the “overnight Low” in Oman reached a staggering 108.7 degrees.
“Another ominous record has been set. The city of Quriyat, Oman, hit an overnight LOW of 108.7 degrees on Tuesday – likely the highest minimum daily temp recorded on Earth,” Gore writes.

The former Vice President was touting another aspect of climate change just last winter, when he said the global crisis was creating record low temperatures throughout the United States.
“It’s bitter cold in parts of the US, but climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann explains that’s exactly what we should expect from the climate crisis,” he tweeted.

BRAIN FREEZE: Al Gore Says GLOBAL WARMING Behind Frigid Temps
Former Vice President Al Gore believes global warming is the main culprit behind the deep freeze taking hold across large sections of the United States, saying the frigid temperatures are “exactly what we should expect” from climate change.
The climate change champion posted his environmental theory on social media, baselessly claiming that “bitter cold in parts of the US” can be explained by global warming; linking to an article from a “climate scientist.”
“It’s bitter cold in parts of the US, but climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann explains that’s exactly what we should expect from the climate crisis,” he tweeted.

The article, “A ‘Perfect Storm’: Extreme Winter Weather, Bitter Cold, and Climate Change,” strangely suggests that while “The US East Coast is experiencing an ‘old-fashioned’ winter, with plenty of cold weather and some heavy snowfall in certain places,” its somehow connected to man-made pollutants.
“Yet, what we were witnessing play out is in fact very much consistent with our expectations of the response of weather dynamics to human-caused climate change,” the author states.
President Trump prompted a full-fledge media meltdown just days ago, when he jokingly tweeted the east coast of the US “could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming.”
In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!
