WINTER CHILL: Olympics Ratings SLIDE as Korean TENSIONS RISE

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.12.18

The overly-hyped opening ceremonies for the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea were met with a yawn and shrug by most American viewers last week, with the flagship program showing a stunning 12% plunge from the start of the international competition in Russia four years ago.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the pre-recorded ceremony posted a sharp decline in television viewership, snagging just 27 million viewers in the US as the world set its sights on the Korean peninsula.

The data makes the PyeongChang event the eleventh-most watched Opening Ceremony not held in the United States.

“Despite thousands of performances, a distinct injection of imagination and that always trivia filled Parade of Nations, and coming off a less than gold initial and unofficial first day, NBC also came up short in the ratings, again,” writes Deadline. “Nowhere near even a bronze medal, that’s down 9% from what the February 7, 2014 Opening Ceremony of the XXII Winter Olympics from Sochi delivered in the early numbers.”

Industry experts blame the drop on growing “geopolitical tensions” that possibly tainted the international competition.

The event turned political within minutes of the broadcast, with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un’s sister sitting just inches from Vice President Mike Pence.

BREAKING: Russia BANNED from 2018 Olympics for Drug Abuse

posted by Hannity Staff - 4.06.17

The International Olympic Committee officially banned Russian athletes from competing in the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Tuesday, citing months-long concerns over allegations of “doping” and the widespread practice of lying about their female competitors’ age.

The IOC has said that specific athletes who comply with rigorous drug testing and screening will be allowed to compete as an “Olympic Athlete from Russia (OAR)” but will not be permitted to use their national flag or anthem.

In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin is widely expected to boycott the 2018 Winter Games entirely, saying that it would be “humiliating” for Russia’s athletes to compete on the international stage without their national symbols.

The IOC also issued a lifetime ban for Russia’s Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko and his Deputy Minister Yuri Nagornykh for violations that occured in 2014; neither of whom will be permitted to take part in all future Olympic games.

DOOMSDAY DELAY: North and South Korea UNITE for 2018 Olympics

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.17.18

Kim Jong Un’s brutal North Korean regime will march alongside their southern neighbors during the opening ceremonies of the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympic Games; officially entering the competition under a “unified Korean” flag.

Both North and South Korean officials announced the decision Wednesday, signaling a further flaw in the ice-cold relations between the two countries that have technically been in a state of war since 1950.

The flag –a blue silhouette of the Korean peninsula against a white background- will officially replace the South Korean flag during the ceremonies; the first time a host nation will not open the competition under their own flag.

The two nations also confirmed their intention to unite their female hockey teams into a single roster.

Following weeks of negotiations, North Korea is prepared to send its delegation of over 200 athletes, reporters, and supporters into South Korea. The “easing of tensions” began earlier this year when dictator Kim Jong Un wished the staunch American ally a “successful” Olympic Games.

The two nations will unite under a unified flag when the games began February 9th.
