Defense Secretary Mattis Releases Statement on North Korea

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.01.17

Secretary of Defense James Mattis has released a strong statement regarding recent reports that North Korea is now capable of mounting a nuclear warhead to long-range missiles.

In the statement released on Wednesday morning, Secretary Mattis warned the DPRK to “cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and destruction of its people.”

“While our State Department is making every effort to resolve this global threat through diplomatic means, it must be noted that the combined allied militaries now possess the most precise, rehearsed and robust defensive and offensive capabilities on Earth,” Mattis writes. “The DPRK regime’s actions will continue to be grossly overmatched by ours and would lose any arms race or conflict it initiates.”

On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that The Defense Intelligence Agency has concluded that North Korea has successfully created miniaturized nuclear warheads that can be fixed to its missiles. If the report is accurate, it would mean North Korea now has the ability to fire a nuclear armed missile that can reach the United States.

Here’s Secretary Mattis’s full statement:

The United States and our allies have the demonstrated capabilities and unquestionable commitment to defend ourselves from an attack. Kim Jong Un should take heed of the United Nations Security Council’s unified voice, and statements from governments the world over, who agree the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea] poses a threat to global security and stability. The DPRK must choose to stop isolating itself and stand down its pursuit of nuclear weapons. The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people.

President Trump was informed of the growing threat last December and on taking office his first orders to me emphasized the readiness of our ballistic missile defense and nuclear deterrent forces. While our State Department is making every effort to resolve this global threat through diplomatic means, it must be noted that the combined allied militaries now possess the most precise, rehearsed and robust defensive and offensive capabilities on Earth. The DPRK regime’s actions will continue to be grossly overmatched by ours and would lose any arms race or conflict it initiates.

BREAKING REPORT: North Korea Now Making Missile-Ready Nuclear Weapons

posted by Hannity Staff - 4.09.17

The Defense Intelligence Agency has concluded that North Korea has successfully created miniaturized nuclear warheads that can be fixed to its missiles, according to a new report from The Washington Post. If the report is accurate, it would mean North Korea now has the ability to fire a nuclear armed missile that can reach the United States.

The Washington Post reports:

The new analysis completed last month by the Defense Intelligence Agency comes on the heels of another intelligence assessment that sharply raises the official estimate for the total number of bombs in the communist country’s atomic arsenal. The U.S. calculated last month that up to 60 nuclear weapons are now controlled by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Some independent experts believe the number of bombs is much smaller.

The findings are likely to deepen concerns about an evolving North Korean military threat that appears to be advancing far more rapidly than many experts had predicted. U.S. officials last month concluded that Pyongyang is also outpacing expectations in its effort to build an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of striking cities on the American mainland.

The report confirms an assessment by the Japanese Ministry of Defense which also concluded that North Korea has achieved miniaturization.

On Saturday, the United Nations Security Council unanimously passed a resolution imposing sanctions on North Korea for its continued intercontinental ballistic missile testing.
