Guam's Governor Backs Trump's Fiery Rhetoric

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.04.17

The governor of Guam defended President Trump’s “fiery” rhetoric on Thursday, saying the American territory needs a President who is willing to engage North Korea with “hell and fury” over its expanding weapons programs.

Governor Eddie Calvo spoke with journalists from his offices in Guam, downplaying the threat posed by Kim Jong Un just hours after the North Korean dictator revealed his plans to launch four, long-range ballistic missiles towards the island.

“They like to be unpredictable. They’ll pop a missile off when no one is ready and they’ve done it quite a few times. Now they’ve telegraphed it,” said Calvo. “They’re now telegraphing their punch, which means they don’t want to have any misunderstandings. I think that’s a position of fear.”

Speaking with Fox News, the governor applauded President Trump’s harsh rhetoric over Kim’s missile plot, saying the US territory needs strong leadership as the crisis continues to escalate.

“As far as I’m concerned, as an American citizen, I want a president that says that if any nation, such as North Korea, attacks Guam, attacks Honolulu, attacks the West Coast, that they will be met with hell and fury,” said Calvo.

The governor urged residents and tourists to stay calm and go about their daily lives, saying, “There is no need to have any concern regarding heightening the threat level.”
