Firebrand congresswoman Maxine Waters lectured President Trump and Secretary of State Tillerson on North Korea’s nuclear threat this week, saying the United States should simply give the communist nation “the things that they’re asking for” to avoid war between the two nations.
“We’re on the verge of nuclear war. What are your thoughts on this?” asked a reporter from entertainment website TMZ.
“Here are my thoughts. The United States State Department must be staffed up to deal in diplomacy. We cannot afford to be in a war, and I want us to be very careful, very alert to what is happening and to avoid war,” said Maxine. “I think we can do this with some diplomacy.”
The liberal legislator then called on the Trump administration to give-up its fight to prevent North Korea from becoming a full-fledged nuclear power, urging officials to capitulate to Kim’s demands.
“I believe that North Korea is issuing threats to the United States, but I think there are some things they want from us and we have to find out whether or not we can work with them on the things that they’re asking for,” she added.
“This is something we should be very concerned about, but this is not the time to go bluffing and threatening. This is the time for diplomacy,” said Waters.
