The National Republican Congressional Committee absolutely destroyed Debbie Wasserman Schultz in a new advertisement that appeared Wednesday, ripping the former DNC boss over her widening scandal involving her shady IT staffer Imran Awan.
The new ad, titled “Corrupt,” blasts Schultz for her handling of Awan after he was barred from the US Capitol back in February; paying the technician over $150,000 as a part time employee and eventually firing him after he was caught fleeing the United States.
The video outlines the entire scandal surrounding the Florida congresswoman and her shady engineer, beginning in July 2017 in a stylized car-chase.
“July 2017: A congressional aide to Debbie Wasserman Schultz -Imran Awan- was arrested trying to flee the country,” says the animation’s narrator. “Instead of joining her Democratic colleagues, Schultz waited until after the arrest to fire Awan.”
“Imran Awan was later charged with bank fraud and is suspected of exposing sensitive government information […] Rather than admitting to a scandal, Wasserman Schultz blames the arrest on racial profiling and Islamophobia,” the voiceover states.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz is facing renewed calls from fellow lawmakers to testify before Congress regarding her IT scandal. The former Democratic Party chief is also expected to face questions regarding her “stonewalling” of the FBI’s investigation into Russian “hacking” of DNC emails.
Schultz refuses to apologize for her decision to keep Awan on her payroll, and insists “I did the right thing and I will do it again.”
