President Trump joined millions of Americans throughout the country and viewed the solar eclipse from his home in Washington, DC on Monday, marking the once-in-a-lifetime celestial event with his family.
The President was flanked by his wife Melania, youngest son Barron, daughter Ivanka, as well as Attorney General Jeff Sessions; all of whom took in the view from the Truman Balcony of the White House
Wearing protective glasses, the First Family enjoyed the rare sight; which will not occur in the eastern United States again until 2024. The partial eclipse began at 1:17pm EST, will peak at 2:42, and will finish at 4:00pm.
According to Business Insider, the moon covered over 80% of the sun during peak time.
