The North Korean regime vowed to reduce the United States “to ashes and darkness” and threatened to sink Japan “into the sea” in response to harsh new UN sanctions imposed on the communist nation in the wake of its sixth nuclear test.
A government spokesman made the statement through state-run news, blasting the United States and members of the UN Security Council over the strict penalties on oil imports and exports of North Korean goods.
“The army and people of the DPRK are unanimously demanding that the Yankees, chief culprit in cooking up the ‘sanctions resolution,’ be beaten to death as a stick is fit for a rabid dog […] There’s limit to patience. Now is the time to annihilate the U.S. imperialist aggressors. Let’s reduce the U.S. mainland into ashes and darkness,” said the statement.
“A telling blow should be dealt to them who have not yet come to senses after the launch of our ICBM over the Japanese archipelago,” it added. “The four islands of the archipelago should be sunken into the sea by the nuclear bomb of Juche. Japan is no longer needed to exist near us.”
The fiery comments come as US officials believe North Korea is rapidly preparing for another intercontinental ballistic missile launch; significantly raising the stakes should Kim Jong Un decide to fire another rocket over sovereign Japanese territory.
