U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley praised President Trump’s speech on Wednesday, saying other world leaders and diplomats were openly referring to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un as “Rocket Man.”
Haley was speaking with ABC News when she thanked the President for his tough-talk regarding North Korea’s missile program, adding that other global leaders were beginning to adopt President Trump’s preferred moniker for the Korean despot.
“Do you think it’s appropriate to use a term like ‘Rocket Man’ to talk about a leader of another country who’s got nuclear weapons?” asked ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.
“I’ll tell you George, it worked. I was taking to a President of an African country yesterday and he actually cited ‘Rocket Man’ back to me,” said the ambassador. “I will tell you, this is a way of getting people to talk about him, and everybody in the international community now is referring to him as ‘Rocket Man.'”
President Trump referred to Kim Jong Un as “Rocket Man” during his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, slamming the dictator over his provocative missile launches and nuclear tests.
“Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime. The United States is ready, willing, and able, but hopefully this will not be necessary. That’s what the United Nations is all about. That’s what the United Nations is for. Let’s see how they do,” said the President.
