Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price has resigned from the Trump administration over his use of government funds for private airplane travel, reports Fox News.
“Secretary of Health and Human Services Thomas Price offered his resignation earlier today and the President accepted,” said White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in a written statement.
The President was tight-lipped over Price’s future when asked earlier Friday, saying, “He’s a very fine man, but we’re going to make a decision sometime tonight.”
Earlier this week, White House officials confirmed that Price had chartered private planes to visit healthcare facilities in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and other locations; one flight was a distance of approximately 100 miles.
Speaking during a White House Press Briefing on Thursday, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters the President was “mad as hell” over Price’s use of private planes.
