Former First Lady Michelle Obama said Tuesday that the nation’s biggest problems are a direct result of too many “white men” controlling the United States government, saying Congressional lawmakers were “literally gray and white.”
Mrs. Obama was speaking at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women this week when she slammed the Trump administration and Congressional Republicans for lacking women and “people of color.”
“It’s a feeling of color, almost. On one side of the room, it’s literally gray and white, literally, that’s the color palette on one side of the room,” she said. “On the other side of the room, there’s yellows and blues and whites and greens. Physically, there’s a difference in color, in the tone. Because one side, all men, all white. On the other side, some women, some people of color.”
The former First Lady goes on to say she was “embarrassed” while hosting guests at the State of the Union address due to the lack of “diversity” among lawmakers.
“Whenever I was sitting, I would always have a guest in that booth, and I was always most embarrassed at the beginning when people would see that,” said Obama.
