The Mayor of San Juan viciously lashed-out at President Trump on Thursday, releasing a prepared statement read on the floor of the House of Representatives that accused the President of “genocide” for his “lack of appropriate action” in Puerto Rico.

Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, who infamously wore a pro-Hillary shirt during recovery efforts, sent the statement to Democratic Representative Luis Gutierrez who read the letter on the House floor; asking the UN, UNICEF, and Congress to not “be left to die” in the wake of the deadly hurricane.

“I ask every American that has love, and not hate in their hearts, to stand with Puerto Rico and let this President know we WILL NOT BE LEFT TO DIE,” said Cruz.

“I ask the United Nations, UNICEF and the world to stand with the people of Puerto Rico and stop the genocide that will result from the lack of appropriate action of a President that just does not get it because he has been incapable of looking in our eyes and seeing the pride that burns fiercely in our hearts and souls,” she added.

Mayor Cruz harshly criticized President Trump and his administration’s response to the deadly hurricane that struck the US-territory, claiming “people are dying” while the President looked-on.

The President commented on recovery efforts earlier Thursday, saying the United States military and FEMA could not remain on the island “indefinitely.”
