The Florida Democrat who politicized a private phone call between President Trump and a slain soldier’s widow told reporters her national attention was “amazing,” adding that she feels like a “rock star.”
Rep. Frederica Wilson was speaking with journalists when she was asked to comment on White House Chief of Staff John Kelly’s touching press briefing on Thursday, where the Gold Star father said he was “stunned” by Wilson’s public comments on the private phone conversation.
“Let me tell you what my mother told me when I was little. She said, ‘The dog can bark at the moon all night long, but it doesn’t become an issue until the moon barks back,'” said Wilson.
“That the White House is following me and my words. This is amazing,” she added. “That is absolutely phenomenal. I’ll have to tell my kids that I’m a rock star now.”
Wilson made national headlines this week when she publicly accused President Trump of telling the widow of a fallen soldier that he “knew what he signed up for,” suggesting the President’s remarks were “insensitive” and claiming Trump didn’t know the soldier’s name.
The President fired-back at the liberal Congresswoman, saying she “totally fabricated” the entire episode.
