NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: Statue of Teddy Roosevelt Vandalized in NYC Landmark

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.23.17

A statue of ‘Rough Rider’ Theodore Roosevelt on the steps of New York’s famed Museum of Natural History was splattered with “blood” early Friday morning, as the NYPD and tourists scrambled to find the vandal behind the attack.

According to the New York Post, police believe a lone suspect splashed red-paint over the iconic memorial between three and seven a.m. and are currently viewing surveillance video to identity the attacker.

One local man called the vandalism “horrible,” adding, “”There is no cause for doing things like this in this society where everybody is free to express their opinion, but not in this way.”

The statue of Teddy Roosevelt was dedicated in 1939, and depicts the notorious ‘Rough Rider’ flanked by two people; an African and a Native American.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown, but comes as the nation continues to struggle with historical landmarks and statues following a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia earlier this year.
