Former interim DNC chief Donna Brazile considered replacing Hillary Clinton with Joe Biden as the 2016 democratic nominee over serious concerns about Clinton’s health after she collapsed in New York City.
According to the Washington Post, Brazile claims in her new bombshell book that she “seriously contemplated” initiating a process that would have removed Clinton and Vice President nominee Tim Kaine from the party’s ticket, replacing the duo with then-Vice President Joe Biden and New Jersey Senator Corey Booker.
The DNC boss eventually backed-away from the idea, saying “I thought of Hillary, and all the women in the country who were so proud of and excited about her. I could not do this to them.”
Former Clinton campaign staffers pushed back over the weekend, releasing a statement saying they “do not recognize the campaign” Brazile portrays in her new memoir.
“We were shocked to learn the news that Donna Brazile actively considered overturning the will of the Democratic voters by attempting to replace Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine as the Democratic Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees,” the letter states.
“It is particularly troubling and puzzling that she would seemingly buy into false Russian-fueled propaganda, spread by both the Russians and our opponent, about our candidate’s health,” it adds.
