Hillary Clinton bashed former interim DNC chief Donna Brazile on Wednesday night, saying her recent accusation that the former candidate had “stolen” the Democratic nomination from Senator Bernie Sanders were flat-out lies.
Clinton was speaking with late-night comedian Seth Meyers when she was asked to comment on Brazile’s recent revelation that Hillary’s campaign had “secretly taken over” the DNC nearly a year before securing the nomination.
“The DNC had a bad couple of weeks,” said Meyers. “Donna Brazile wrote a book, I know she’s a long-time colleague of yours. In her book, she made a comment that your campaign through an agreement had too much influence at the detriment of the Sanders campaign.”
“What was your reaction to that?” he asked.
“I didn’t know what she was referring to. As has now come out, that just wasn’t the case,” said Hillary. The former Secretary of State then deflected, changing the conversation to recent Democratic victories on Election Day.
“The current DNC leadership really invested heavily in Virginia and New Jersey. I called the current chairman to congratulate him because he didn’t get knocked off-course,” she added.
