FRANKENSTEIN: 'Ashamed' Al Franken Returns to Congress

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.27.17

Disgraced Democratic Senator Al Franken is returning to the Capitol after nearly eight-days of silence following accusations he inappropriately “groped” multiple women over the course of a decade, saying he was “ashamed” but ready to “get back to work.”

“I’ve let a lot of people down and I’m hoping I can make it up to them and gradually regain their trust,” Franken told Minnesota’s Star Tribune. “I’m looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow.”

The liberal lawmaker denies charges he sexually assaulted a news anchor while touring the Middle East and inappropriately grabbed a woman at a state fair, saying he “likes to hug” people but acknowledged he “crossed a line.”

“I don’t remember these photographs, I don’t,” he said. “This is not something I would intentionally do,” adding he was “thinking about how that could happen and I just recognize that I need to be more careful and a lot more sensitive in these situations.”

Franken made national headlines last week after news anchor Leann Tweeden claimed the former SNL comedian forcibly kissed her during a stage rehearsal and posed for an inappropriate photograph while she was sleeping.

Another woman came forward soon after, saying the comic “grabbed” her buttocks while posing for a photograph at the Minnesota State Fair.
