A veteran from the United States Army came forward on Thursday, claiming disgraced Senator Al Franken groped her while she was serving in Kuwait back in 2003; telling CNN that he “cupped her breast” while taking a photograph.
The veteran, identified as 41-year-old Stephanie Kemplin of Ohio, is the latest woman to accuse the former comedian of inappropriately grabbing or kissing them without consent, and is the second person to claim Franken engaged in sexual misconduct during his USO tour of the Middle East.
“When he put his arm around me, he groped my right breast. He kept his hand all the way over on my breast,” said Kemplin. “I’ve never had a man put their arm around me and then cup my breast. So, he was holding my breast on the side.”
“I remember clenching up and how you just feel yourself flushed,” she added. “And I remember thinking — is he going to move his hand? Was it an accident? Was he going to move his hand? He never moved his hand.”
Earlier this week, Franken issued a public apology before returning to work at the US Capitol, saying he was “embarrassed” and “ashamed,” but was “ready to get back to work.”
