President Trump broke his silence regarding former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn on Monday, ripping the FBI’s double-standard in their handling of Hillary Clinton and the Trump aide; saying Clinton lied and “nothing happened to her,” yet they “ruined” Flynn’s life.
The President was addressing reporters outside the White House before embarking on a trip to Utah when he was pressed on Flynn’s recent guilty plea.
“We have not heard yet a reaction to Flynn’s guilty plea, can you talk about that?” asked one journalist.
“I feel badly for General Flynn, I feel very badly. He’s led a very strong life, and I feel very badly,” said the President. “I will say this: Hillary Clinton lied many times to the FBI and nothing happened to her. Flynn lied and they destroyed his life. I think it’s a shame.”
“Hillary Clinton on the Fourth of July weekend, went to the FBI –not under oath- in the most incredible thing anyone’s ever seen. She lied many times, and nothing happened to her,” he added. “Flynn lied, and they ruined his life. It’s very unfair.”
