NBC News political reporter Jonathan Allen raised eyebrows throughout the Democratic Party this week, saying former President Bill Clinton instructed DNC boss Tom Perez to “not let the party go to Bernie Sanders folks.”
Allen was speaking with C-SPAN when he made the surprising comment; saying Perez was in the middle of a Democratic tug-of-war between the Clinton camp and the progressive wing led by Sen. Bernie Sanders.
“The DNC is unpopular with its own base,” Allen said. “Roughly half the Democratic Party felt like the DNC was unfairly tipping the scales in the last presidential election trying to get Hillary Clinton nominated, trying to hurt Bernie Sanders.”
“Tom Perez is in the middle of that and he’s gotten very clear instructions from Bill Clinton not to let the party go to the Bernie Sanders folks,” he added.

DNC CIVIL WAR: Bernie Sanders UNLOADS on ‘Conservative Democrats’
Former presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders called-out “conservative Democrats” during a recent interview this week; saying they had intentionally misinterpreted his comments about Barack Obama.
Sanders was speaking with Al Sharpton when he was asked to comment on his recent “controversial” statements; adding that “conservative” members of the Democratic party were playing politics with his previous remarks.
“We have conservative Democrats who will take anything I say and take it out of context. What I said is that if you look at what’s happening to the Democratic party over the last 10 years, the party’s lost about 1,000 legislative seats,” said Sanders.
“That is not a business model of success for the Democratic party. Sometimes we forget about that because we had an extraordinary candidate [in Barack Obama],” he added.
