University-bound DACA-recipients in Arizona are no longer eligible for in-state college tuition, according to a new ruling from the state’s Supreme Court.
The court’s decision bars ‘Dreamers’ from applying for cheaper fees throughout Arizona’s state universities and community colleges; a common route for DACA-recipients to attend institutions of higher education.
According to Fox News, the unanimous decision will have a dramatic impact on at least 2,000 students and all incoming freshman effective immediately.
“While people can disagree what the law should be, I hope we all can agree that the attorney general must enforce the law as it is, not as we want it to be,” said a statement from the Arizona Attorney General.
The ruling comes as President Trump repeatedly urges Congressional Democrats to pass a permanent solution to DACA; claiming “a deal can be made” on the nearly 800,000 ‘Dreamers’ currently living in the United States.
