The list of liberal lawmakers planning on attending President Trump’s highly-anticipated ‘State of the Union’ address is dwindling by the day, with more and more Democratic legislators announcing their plans to boycott the annual speech to both houses of Congress.
According to Fox News, Florida Representative Frederica Wilson is the latest Democrat to publicly protest the President’s address, saying, “For the first time since I began serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, I will not be attending the president’s State of the Union address.”
“I have no doubts that instead of delivering a message of inclusivity and an agenda that benefits all Americans, President Trump’s address will be full of innuendo, empty promises and lies,” she added.
Wilson made national headlines last year when she publicly accused President Trump of “disrespecting” the widow of a fallen soldier during a private phone conversation; claiming the Commander-in-Chief didn’t know the slain service member’s name.
Rep. Wilson now joins a growing list of liberal legislators opting to stay home during the President’s address, including Rep. John Lewis and Rep. Earl Blumenauer.
