IT BEGINS: New York Assembly Passes ‘SINGLE PAYER’ Healthcare Bill

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.18.18

The New York State Assembly passed a “single payer healthcare” bill last week, sending the legislation to the state’s Senate for the fourth year in a row and setting the stage for a major showdown with local Republicans.

According to the Washington Times, the Assembly advanced the bill over the weekend but will likely be immediately shot-down by the GOP-controlled New York Senate.

The legislation would permit all New York residents to sign up for government-backed health insurance, which would have no restrictions, co-pays, or caps on healthcare costs across the state.

The legislation is a largely symbolic gesture, aimed at motivating New York’s liberal base as the Democratic Party sets its sights on the 2018 midterm elections.

National candidates -such as Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren- have all pledged to pursue a “Medicare for All” plan should the Democrats retake the Congress this fall.

FLASHBACK: Bernie Says Medicare-for-All Would 'Bankrupt the Nation'

Socialist Senator Bernier Sanders –who just this week unveiled a universal healthcare bill- admitted back in 1987 that a single-payer plan would carry an “astronomical” cost and would likely “bankrupt the nation.”

Sanders was speaking with a local Vermont television station when he made the surprising admission, saying that adopting a Canadian healthcare model in the United States would be far too expensive.

“You want to guarantee that all people have access to health care as you do in Canada,” said Sanders.

“But I think what we understand is that unless we change the funding system and the control mechanism in this country to do that—for example, if we expanded Medicaid to everybody,” he added, “Give everybody a Medicaid card—we would be spending such an astronomical sum of money that, you know, we would bankrupt the nation.”

30 years later, Bernie Sanders is pushing exactly the type of healthcare system he critiqued back in 1987; unveiling new legislation this week that he described as “Medicare-for-all.”

Bernie’s proposal is expected to cost an “astronomical” $32 trillion over a ten-year period; a figure that would likely “bankrupt the nation.”

NANCYCARE: Pelosi Eyes ‘MEDICARE FOR ALL’ Should Dems Retake Congress

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.08.18

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is pulling back the curtains on potential Democratic policies should her party retake the House in November, saying universal healthcare is definitely “on the table.”

Pelosi was speaking with reporters Thursday when she weighed-in on a potential “Medicare for all” system in the United States, saying she’s “always been for a public option” that enables all Americans to receive government-financed healthcare.

“I’ve always been for a public option so I’m always eager to talk about that,” said Pelosi.

“Some of the other issues that have been proposed have to be evaluated in terms of the access that they give, the affordability of it and how we would pay for it, but again it’s all on the table,” she added.

A potential “Medicare for All” program has been touted by Democrats for years, including 2020 frontrunner Bernie Sanders who called for the program during his 2016 run against Hillary Clinton.
