California Governor Gavin Newsom officially drew-down the majority of his state’s National Guard troops from the US-Mexico border this week; saying he was deploying the units towards more “appropriate venues” such as fire prevention.
“We’re announcing that of the roughly 360 folks down on the border… we’ll keep 100 folks behind. The rest of our National Guard will go towards more appropriate venues; the issues related to the next fire season,” said Newsom.
“All of this is reinforced through the absurd theatrics that was related to the fact the President of the United States asked for an additional 3,750 troops to be sent to the border,” he added.
