CNN White House correspondent April Ryan found herself in hot-water Tuesday after she labeled First Lady Melania Trump ‘not culturally American’ after she unveiled her ‘Be Best’ campaign from the White House rose garden.
Ryan was commenting on the First Lady’s new platform while speaking with Erin Burnett Monday night; saying Mrs. Trump was “learning” the issues of cyberbullying and other threats to America’s youth.
Melania Trump has lived in the United States since 1996 and became a US citizen in 2006.
“This is a first lady who is not culturally American, but she is learning the ways and this is not just an American issue. These are not just American issues,” Ryan told “OutFront” host Erin Burnett. “These are international issues. Cyberbullying is an international issue. Social media is international and also the opioid addiction issue, so it’s not just here, but it’s abroad as well.”
