A southeast Maryland high school is in lockdown Tuesday morning, after police and local officials confirmed a shooting occurred at the Great Mills High School in St. Mary’s County.

The St. Mary’s County Public School District issued an official alert on social media just before 9am, saying “there has been a shooting at Great Mills High School.”

“There has been a Shooting at Great Mills High School. The school is on lock down the event is contained, the Sheriff’s office is on the scene additional information to follow.  Parents/Guardians should go to Leonardtown HS for reunification with GMHS students,” said the post.

“Some of the injuries were critical, sheriff’s officials said. It’s not clear how many people were injured at the school about 60 miles southeast of Washington, D.C. Deputies were called to the school just before 8 a.m,” writes NBC News.

AMERICAN HEROES: Florida Survivors Used BULLET PROOF SHEETS to Protect Fellow Students

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.20.18

Two survivors at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in southern Florida used “Kevlar sheets” from a Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps course to help shield their fellow students from a hail of gunfire; saving countless lives and untold injuries during the mass shooting.

The students spoke with Tampa’s Fox affiliate, discussing their plan to protect those around them when they began to “hear the pops” as 19-year old Nikolas Cruz opened fire on students at the local high school.

“I heard the pops, I heard the fire drill, and I knew there was a shooter,” said one student. “I looked at all the kids behind me, just looking at me frozen, and I yelled to them ‘Run back to the classroom, go back now!”

“In our JROTC program, we have a team that’s called marksmanship, so our backdrop for the targets that we shoot are actually kevlar sheets that we hang,” he added. “We put everybody behind them. That way they were all at least somewhat safe because the kevlar—it wouldn’t have stopped a bullet, but it would have slowed it down a lot so that the damage someone would have received from it, God forbid, would have been a lot less.”

BROWARD BOMBSHELL: Florida Governor ORDERS PROBE as Sheriff REFUSES to Resign

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.26.18

Governor Rick Scott is opening an official probe into the Broward County Sheriff’s Department over their mishandling of the deadly school shooting that rocked southern Florida earlier this month; demanding answers as Sheriff Scott Israel refuses to resign.

Scott formally requested the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to launch an investigation into the agency on Sunday night, saying there needs to be an “immediate” inquiry following reports four Deputies refused to enter the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School during and after the attack.

“I have asked for FDLE to immediately investigate the law enforcement response and will continue to review this matter as more facts come out. There must be an independent investigation and that is why I asked the FDLE Commissioner to immediately start this process,” said Scott’s statement.

The Governor’s request comes as Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel refuses to resign in the wake of his department’s botched response; telling CNN’s Jake Tapper he’s “given amazing leadership to this agency” and that you “don’t measure a person’s leadership by a deputy not going in.”
