MASS REVOLT: Boston Considers Giving NON-US CITIZENS Voting Rights

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.09.18

The city of Boston is considering a new proposal that would allow legal immigrants who aren’t United States citizens the right to vote throughout the city, with council members holding meetings this week to find ways to make local elections “more inclusive.”

According to Boston.com, the proposal was initially requested by Council President Andrea Campbell, who urged the City Council to allow non-citizens the right to vote in municipal races.

“Campbell’s order for a hearing says Boston has more than 190,000 foreign-born residents, which represents 28 percent of the city population. It also says non-U.S. citizens paid $116 million in state and local taxes and generated over $3.4 billion in spending according to a 2015 city report,” writes Boston.com.

The order would permit legal permanent residents, DACA-recipients, green card holders, and valid visa holders the ability to vote throughout Boston in local races.

'TOTAL CATASTROPHE': Four Separate IMMIGRATION BILLS FAIL in US Senate

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.16.18

Four separate immigration bills crashed and burned in the US Senate this week, capping off a week of fiery debate, negotiations, and eventually defeat as both the President’s proposal and a bipartisan bill failed to secure enough votes.

Trump’s four-part immigration plan -which would provide a pathway to citizenship for nearly two million ‘Dreamers,’ fund his border wall, and end “chain” migration- went down in defeat, with many Republicans joining their Democrat colleagues and sinking the bill in a 39-60 vote.

The Senate’s bipartisan deal also fell short just hours after Trump threatened to veto the bill he described as a “total catastrophe.”

“The Schumer-Rounds-Collins immigration bill would be a total catastrophe. @DHSgov says it would be ‘the end of immigration enforcement in America.’ It creates a giant amnesty (including for dangerous criminals), doesn’t build the wall, expands chain migration, keeps the visa,” Trump tweeted.

The Senate’s inability to pass any immigration deal comes as the March 5th deadline looms with the nation’s DACA program officially expiring; throwing into question the fate of millions of ‘Dreamers’ currently residing in the United States.

‘FREEDOM CITY’: Austin, Texas Takes ‘SANCTUARY STATUS’ to the NEXT LEVEL

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.20.18

The liberal bastion of Austin, Texas took its fight against the state government and Trump administration to the next level this month, passing new legislation that declared the left-wing enclave the nation’s first ‘Freedom City.’

According to the Los Angeles Times, the new guidelines for local law enforcement restrict police from even questioning individuals about their immigration status and prevents them from arresting possible migrants for “non-violent crimes.”

“One of the new city resolutions requires officers who question immigrants about status to also say that their questions about immigration need not be answered. The other resolution directs police to avoid arrests for misdemeanors, including those for smoking marijuana, having drug paraphernalia, and taking part in petty theft — crimes that city data shows frequently end in arrests of black and Latino residents,” writes the LA Times.

“If people are being arrested less, we can also prevent people from being put in the deportation pipeline,” said an Austin City Council Member.
