US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo touched-down in North Korea Tuesday; landing in Pyongyang as President Trump announced his historic decision to withdraw from the Iranian nuclear agreement.
The President confirmed Pompeo’s arrival during his speech regarding the failed multinational deal; saying “at this very moment, Secretary Pompeo” was on his way to the Korean peninsula.
“At this very moment, Secretary Pompeo is on his way to North Korea in preparation for my upcoming meeting with Kim Jong Un,” said the President.
“Plans are being made, relationships are building. Hopefully a deal will happen. And with the help of China, South Korea, and Japan, a future of great prosperity and security can be achieved for everyone,” he added.
The visit will be Pompeo’s second visit in recent months; setting the stage for high-level meetings between President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un; the first face-to-face discussions between the leaders of both nations in history.
