House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi found herself in hot-water with her own party this week, with liberal legislators accusing the top Democrat of “undermining” their efforts to impeach President Trump.
According to Fox News, Pelosi recently told the Dallas Morning Star she wished her left-wing colleagues would stop using “impeachment” in campaign speeches heading into the 2018 midterm elections.
“We have elections,” she said. “Go vote if it’s a policy thing and a behavior thing. I don’t know if you can get impeached for being a jerk, but if we did, this guy would be long gone. But that’s not unifying.”
Rep. Al Green -who has been calling for Trump’s removal from office for months- pushed back against the former Speaker, saying she was “trivializing his bigotry.”
“Trivializing his bigotry also allows Trump supporters to hypothesize that while Trump may be an objectionable jerk he is not an impeachable bigot, which is not true,” said Green.
