President Trump continued to make good on his campaign pledge to donate his presidential salary to charity this week; unveiling his plans to give his first quarter 2018 paycheck to the Office of Veterans Affairs.
The President announced his decision Thursday, saying the VA will receive his quarterly salary to help the agency promote the well-being and health of America’s heroic service members and their families.
The money will reportedly be used to help the VA’s “Caregiver Programs.”
Acting Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie officially accepted the presidential donation, saying “President Trump understands the critical role of caregivers in meeting the essential needs of veterans.”
The President has donated his previous paychecks to other American institutions, including the preservation of America’s Civil War battlefield at Antietam in Maryland.
