SCHUMER CAVES AGAIN: Dems DROPPING DACA Demand from Budget Bill

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.25.18

Senate Democrats are backing-off their insistence that any long-term budget agreement include a deal on DACA, dropping their high-stakes demand to protect ‘Dreamers’ and boosting the possibility of striking an arrangement with GOP leadership.

According to Politico, leading Democratic negotiators told their Republican counterparts of the new stance on immigration following their public failure in shutting down the federal government; just to re-open it three days later without any concessions.

“We’re viewing [immigration and spending] on separate terms because they are on separate paths,” said Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin.

“Procedural concession means we’ve got a deadline and a process,” Durbin added. “That to me is a significant step forward. It’s not everything I wanted, that’s for sure, but it’s a step forward.”

The arrangement is raising eyebrows amongst Democrats in the House of Representatives, particularly from the progressive left-wing of the party; many of whom insist DACA be included in any budget agreement.

“We are insisting that these things be in the same negotiation,” said one House Democratic aide. “To us, what’s important is are these talks linked or not linked? To us, they are linked.”

SCHUMER BACKS DOWN: Chuck Schumer CAVES, ENDS Government Shutdown

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.22.18

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced on the Senate floor Monday his plans to end the Democratic filibuster over a short-term federal funding bill, effectively reopening the national government following a three-day shutdown.

Sources familiar with the new agreement say Democrats secured a verbal commitment from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell there will be an upcoming up-or-down vote on DACA and other immigration reform issues.

“I don’t think this is the right way to get policy outcomes is to shut the government down. When we tried it, it didn’t work well for us,” said GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham with colleagues Susan Collins and Jeff Flake.

“Here’s what I predict. Once we start talking about immigration and voting on immigration, we’ll find 60 votes to make sure these DACA recipients’ lives are not ruined by March 5,” he added.

President Trump and Republican leadership routinely labeled the short-term government closure the “Schumer Shutdown” over the Minority Leader’s insistence that DACA legislation be included in a federal spending bill.

“The Democrats are turning down services and security for citizens in favor of services and security for non-citizens. Not good!” tweeted the President earlier Monday.

SCHUMER MELTDOWN: Chuck GOES NUCLEAR on Senate Floor as GOP Passes Tax Cuts

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.20.17

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer threw a public temper tantrum from the floor of the US Capitol on Tuesday night, scolding his GOP colleagues who were quietly speaking while the liberal legislator railed against the Republican tax legislation.

The lawmaker was desperately attempting to sway Senators from voting “yes” on the tax proposal, erroneously claiming that “millions” of middle class families would see a “tax hike” under the current bill.

Schumer paused mid-sentence before unloading on GOP Senators, calling for order as his colleagues quietly negotiated in the chamber.

“Nearly 145 million middle class families under $200k will either get tax hikes… Can we have order Mr. President?” raged Schumer.

“This is serious stuff! We believe you’re messing up America. You could pay attention for a couple of minutes,” he scolded his GOP colleagues.
