Hannity Radio Show Recap: Aug 7

posted by Hannity Staff - 8.08.18

4:05 PM ET – Freedom Caucus Member Jim Jordan of Ohio, is running for Speaker of the House. This past weekend while President Trump was stumping for Troy Balderson in Ohio’s special election in the 12th district, he pulled the candidate for Speaker up on to the stage and endorsed him for the seat. Democrats have put a lot of time and money into the Democrat challenger, Danny O’Connor. Ohio is seen as a bell-weather state for the upcoming midterms. Joining him is The Hill’s John Solomon.

President Trump brought Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on stage at his rally in Ohio on Saturday night, giving the conservative lawmaker a public boost as he runs for Speaker of the House.

“Jim Jordan, how great is he?” Trump said, before bringing the lawmaker on stage.

The crowd chanted “Speaker of the House” as Jordan stood on stage.

Trump’s public nod of camaraderie with the conservative Republican, a regular presence on cable television who has criticized special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation and backed the impeachment of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, was also notable given the controversy dogging Jordan surrounding allegations he knew of sexual abuse while serving as a wresting coach at The Ohio State University. 4:30 PM ET – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise is here to talk about the vitriol and the casual way that our media and communities are treating violence. As a victim of a terrible shooting at the ends of mentally unstable man, he understands just how serious a threat this can be to one’s life. As we here MSM networks spewing hatred for Republicans and Trump supporters and the shootings in Chicago this weekend, we need to take a moment, regroup and correct this disregard for the care of others. No good can come of a nation that turns on itself.

Just a few examples:

**Sara Sanders asked to leave the Red Hen

**Maxine Waters telling constituents to confront Trump officials

**Cory Booker tells audience to get in the face of Republicans

**Biden says he would like to take Trump out back and punch him

**Obama tells crowd to get in the faces of those who don’t support him

**Obama says Mr. Burgess will tear up Sean Hannity

5:05 PM ET – Gregg Jarrett, Fox News Legal Analyst and author of The Russian Hoax, The Illicit Scheme to Clear Hillary Clinton and Frame Donald Trump, and David Schoen, Civil Liberties Attorney, take a look at the evidence supplied in the 5th day of the Manafort trial before Judge Ellis. It seems that the tricks that might work in the southern district of New York, will not work here. Ellis reminded the court and prosecutors about the extreme nature of this case and it’s irregularities:

Rick Gates had his hand in the cookie jar and couldn’t let his boss find out,” Manafort defense attorney Thomas Zehnle said during opening arguments.

Prosecutors have introduced a bevy of exhibits and are in the process of calling several witnesses as part of their effort to paint Manafort as a tax scofflaw who failed to report money spent on luxury items — then lied to get bank loans when his foreign consulting work dried up.

The judge in the Paul Manafort trial reminded prosecutors on Friday of the high bar for conviction — that they must prove the former Trump campaign chairman knowingly violated tax and bank laws related to his political work overseas.
