4:05PM EST – Sara Carter, Fox News Contributor and Independent Journalist, is on the precipice of landing another big story. The onion continues to unravel as it is revealed that there is yet more culpability within the Clinton circle. The possibility of this high-level Clinton confidant having been involved in the dossier looks to be 100% true. From Byron York’s piece in the Washington Examiner:
Congressional investigations into the Trump dossier have so far been focused on the FBI and Justice Department. They still are, but now investigators are also looking into a possible Obama State Department role in the collection and dissemination of sensational and still-unverified allegations against candidate Donald Trump gathered by a former British spy working for the Hillary Clinton campaign.
In addition to having contacts in the Obama Justice Department and FBI, that former spy, Christopher Steele, was also well-connected with the Obama State Department. A book published in November by a correspondent at the Guardian, “Collusion: Secret meetings, dirty money, and how Russia helped Donald Trump win,” noted that Steele’s 2010 work on the World Cup soccer corruption investigation won him the trust not only of the FBI, but the State Department as well.
4:30 PM – EST – Sebastian Gorka, Fox News Contributor, is here to discuss the news of the day and call out RINOS like Jeff Flake who is giving a speech tomorrow in which he is expected to compare President Trump’s attacking the media to Josef Stalin:
Former White House aide Sebastian Gorka blasted Sen. Jeff Flake for invoking Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin in recent criticism of President Trump.
Gorka, whose parents fled to the United Kingdom from Hungary, told Lou Dobbs that Flake “should be ashamed of himself” for even bringing up a murderous regime like Stalin’s to go after President Trump.
“My parents lived under a Stalinist regime. My father was arrested and tortured and put in prison by a Stalinist regime. This man has no moral compass left anymore,” said Gorka.
He said Flake’s comments are an insult to anyone who died or suffered under actual “Stalinist” regimes.
5:00 PM EST – Chairman of the Freedom Caucus, Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina, is here to talk about the legislative efforts of the caucus and the party. Meadows will go over the number of items ahead of the potential government shutdown this Friday, 1/19.
“It is extremely difficult to convince our caucus members to vote for another short-term funding mechanism,” House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows told CNN Monday afternoon.
Meadows said that the while his group has not come out with an official position yet, the House Freedom Caucus will meet Tuesday night following a conference-wide GOP meeting.
“I had to whip very vigorously before Christmas,” Meadows said. “Knowing the reluctance of many of my members, I am getting prepared for what I believe will be a very contentious meeting as we discuss doing a short-term CR for the fourth time in six months.” (h/t CNN)
