SMOKE OUT: Sessions RESCINDS OBAMA Decision on Legal Marijuana

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.04.18

Attorney General Jeff Sessions threw cold water on the legal marijuana industry on Thursday, announcing his decision to roll back former President Barack Obama’s drug-friendly policies that permitted the cannabis industry to thrive in certain states.

The new guidelines allow federal prosecutors, including the FBI, to pursue cases and bring charges against growers and users of the drug

The new guidelines allow federal prosecutors, including the FBI, to pursue cases and bring charges against growers and users of the drug; even in states where the use of recreational or medicinal marijuana is permitted.

“U.S. attorneys need to make decisions in these cases as they do in other drugs cases,” one Department of Justice official told Fox News.

Obama’s initial ruling dates back to 2013, releasing a memo that instructed federal agents to not intervene in states that legalized or semi-legalized the use and possession of cannabis-related products.

“Give the Department’s well-established general principles, previous nationwide guidance specific to marijuana enforcement is unnecessary and is rescinded, effective immediately,” Sessions said in a statement this week.

The issue of recreational marijuana was brought back into the spotlight on New Year’s Day, when California became the nation’s latest state to permit the legal sale and consumption of the drug.

The drug is now available to sell to any adult over the age of 21, and residents are permitted to grow up to six plants on their private property.

FIREWORKS: Jeff Sessions GOES NUCLEAR During Senate Testimony

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.01.17

Attorney General Jeff Sessions got into a heated exchange with a Democratic Congresswoman during his Congressional testimony on Tuesday, fiercely defending his previous statements before the Intelligence Committee and re-affirming he had “never met with or had any conversation with any Russians.”

Sessions was speaking with the House Judiciary Committee when he was pressed by Rep. Sheila Jackson on his previous comments regarding the Trump campaign’s ties with Russia, asking if he wished to “revise” his statement following recent revelations that a staff volunteer had once inquired about a possible meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Yes or no, does he wish to change his testimony in the Intelligence Committee?” asked Jackson.

“I would just say this: I stand by this testimony at the Intelligence Committee,” Sessions fired-back. “I have never met with or had any conversation with any Russians or any foreign officials concerning any type of interference with the campaign or election in the United States. Further, I have no knowledge of any such conversations by anyone connected to the Trump campaign.”
