The FBI and local police foiled an impending July 4th terror attack in Cleveland over the weekend, arresting one man while conducting “reconnaissance” of a downtown square where he planned on launching his deadly assault.

According to Fox News, the individual -who repeatedly pledged allegiance to foreign terrorist organizations- intended to “pack a van” full of explosives and detonate the vehicle during the Fourth of July festivities.

“Demetrius Nathanial Pitts, also known as Abdur Raheem Rahfeeq, was arrested yesterday after a months-long investigation prompted by statements made on social media,” writes Fox News.

“U.S. Attorney Justin Herdman said during his conversations with undercover agents, Pitts said he planned to use a van packed with explosives, wanting to target people watching fireworks and the downtown parade,” adds the site.
